TEST DATA ONLY

Numbers you can put in a test suite without calling a stranger.

ScratchDigits is a bench of four small utilities for developers and data teams: fictional-range test phone numbers, sample datasets, a validation and formatting bench, and test IDs whose check digits actually check out. Free to use, no signup. An account raises the batch limits and gives you an API key — and the same account works on our sibling tools Mockfile and ScribeBuilder.

STATION 01

Test phone numbers

555-01XX fictional range only. CSV, JSON, or plain text, seeded so your fixtures never drift.

STATION 02

Sample datasets

Customers, transactions, employees, support tickets. Internally consistent — totals add up.

STATION 03

Validate & format

NANP phone parsing and formatting; Luhn, ISBN, EAN-13 and IBAN checksums, run for real.

STATION 04

Test IDs

UUIDs, Luhn-suffixed order numbers, internal-use EAN-13s — then prove them at Station 03.

Station 01, right here

Your numbers will appear here — stamped as test data, because they are.

Why the 555-01XX rule is absolute

Since the 1990s, North American numbering reserves 555-0100 through 555-0199 for fictional use — films, ads, and test fixtures. Numbers outside that block can belong to real subscribers. A generator that hands you a "random" 10-digit number is handing you somebody's phone. This bench never leaves the fictional block, and it stamps every export so the data cannot be mistaken for a call list downstream. If you need to test with your own real number, type it into Station 03 yourself — we will format and check it, and we will not store it as a lead, because it is not one.
